In the early morning hours of January 3, 2026, a burst of gunfire outside a banquet hall in Temple Hills, Maryland, tragically cut short the life of 27-year-old Ronez Proctor of Waldorf. The fatal shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. in the parking lot of a venue in the 4300 block of St. Barnabas Road, where an event had been taking place. Two other men, 33-year-old Pierre Davis and 26-year-old Kevon Medley Williams, both from Washington, D.C., also died in the exchange of gunfire.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the incident unfolded after a dispute that began inside the banquet hall and spilled out into the parking lot. An investigation, which included reviewing surveillance footage and ballistic evidence, suggests that 39-year-old Antonio Lancaster of Landover was present with Davis, and both were armed. For reasons that remain under investigation, Lancaster allegedly began shooting at Proctor and Medley Williams. Subsequently, Medley Williams and Davis are believed to have exchanged gunfire, resulting in both of their deaths. Authorities have indicated that Ronez Proctor was an innocent bystander who was attempting to provide aid to someone who had been shot when he was killed.
Following the shooting, Lancaster fled the scene but was later apprehended in Fairfax County, Virginia, through the collaborative efforts of the Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Lancaster has been charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with the death of Ronez Proctor, as well as two counts of attempted murder and various firearm-related offenses. He is currently awaiting extradition to Prince George's County. Detectives believe that Lancaster and the deceased individuals were known to each other, and they are continuing to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
The untimely death of Ronez Proctor, a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 26, has left his family and community heartbroken.
