In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, a verbal argument escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 51-year-old Lapriest Maddox. The male victim was found by police just after midnight on May 27, 2025, outside a residence in the 3500 block of Bells Lane in the Park Duvalle neighborhood. He had sustained a gunshot wound, and despite the arrival of emergency medical services, Maddox was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent investigation by the
Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit led to the arrest of 45-year-old Angela Kelly. According to police reports, Kelly and Maddox were in a dating relationship and had previously lived together. On the night of the incident, a dispute over Maddox's cellphone turned violent.
During the physical altercation, Kelly allegedly took a firearm from Maddox. She admitted to investigators that she pointed the gun at him and shot him. Following the shooting, she fled the scene in her vehicle. Kelly was arrested the following day and charged with one count of murder. A judge set her bond at $500,000.
