Lee Edward Trowell

In the early hours of January 15, 2017, the city of Louisville, Kentucky, recorded its first homicide of the year. Lee Edward Trowell, a 50-year-old Black male, was found shot to death in the Russell neighborhood of west Louisville. The incident occurred on Vermont Avenue, where Trowell was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead before 5 a.m.
