In the turbulent streets of Louisville, Kentucky, a 24-year-old Black man named Tyson Mimms became a central figure in a grim and chaotic chapter of the city's history. On the afternoon of May 17, 2012, in the Parkland neighborhood, gunfire erupted near the intersection of 32nd Street and Kentucky Street, claiming the lives of Mimms and 22-year-old Craig Bland Jr. Both men were found dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Two other men were also wounded in the violent exchange.
