On the afternoon of May 17, 2012, in the Parkland neighborhood, gunfire erupted near the intersection of 32nd Street and Kentucky Street, claiming the lives of Mimms and 22-year-old Craig Bland Jr. Both men were found dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Two other men were also wounded in the violent exchange.
