In the early hours of a Saturday morning in downtown Louisville, the vibrant life of Larry Montez Walker Jr., a 24-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On March 2, 2024, Walker was found with gunshot wounds in the 500 block of South 4th Street. He was rushed to UofL Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 8 a.m.
Known affectionately as 'Lil Larry,' he was remembered for his infectious smile, boundless energy, and his ability to brighten even the darkest of days.
Born on September 15, 1999, Larry's passion for life was evident in his love for dance and his readiness to offer a helping hand or a joke to lift the spirits of those around him. He was a beacon of positivity, cherished by his family and a wide circle of friends.
In the wake of the shooting, another female victim from the same incident arrived at the hospital by private means with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was reported to be in stable condition. The Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide unit is actively investigating the shooting and is searching for suspects. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Larry Montez Walker Jr., a young man whose legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering positive spirit.
