In the late hours of a Friday evening in Louisville, a burst of violence cut short the life of Chester Deon Crawford. The 40-year-old man was in the Portland neighborhood on May 30, 2025, when the fatal incident occurred. Just before 11 p.m., Metro Police received a call reporting a shooting and were dispatched to the area of North 34th Street and Pflanz Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Crawford's body; he had sustained injuries from the shooting.
Emergency medical services were at the scene and pronounced him dead from his wounds. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later publicly identified him as the victim.
In the wake of the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit has taken charge of the case. Despite their ongoing investigation, authorities have not yet identified any suspects in connection with Crawford's death. No arrests have been made, and the police have reached out to the public for assistance, appealing for anyone with information or potential surveillance footage to come forward.
