On a tragic evening in Washington, D.C., 16-year-old Royell Walker lost his life in a burst of gunfire. The male teenager was in the 4200 block of 4th Street, Southeast, on the night of Friday, May 23, 2025, when the shooting occurred. At approximately 10:19 p.m., police responded to reports of the shooting and discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in the roadway.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but their efforts to save Royell Walker and another
victim, 19-year-old Jamar Jackson, were unsuccessful; both were pronounced dead at the location. A third victim, a 14-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In the weeks that followed, the Metropolitan Police Department's investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects. On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, authorities arrested 23-year-old Sean McFadden of Southeast, DC. The next day, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended 19-year-old Royale McGlenn Jr. of Hyattsville, Maryland. Both men were charged with First Degree Murder while Armed in connection with the double homicide. The case, which prosecutors suggested could be gang-related, moved forward with a judge finding probable cause to detain both defendants pending trial. Investigators noted that casings from three different guns were found at the scene of the shooting.
Another man named Royell Jonathan Walker, aged 20, was also the victim of a homicide in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. At approximately 8:49 p.m., he was shot and killed in the 3500 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast. In a subsequent investigation and trial, Leroy Green was acquitted of his murder. However, Green and two other men, Jermaine Scales and Darius Styles, were later convicted on more than a dozen felony counts for their roles in a two-and-a-half-year campaign of violence, obstruction of justice, and witness intimidation that stemmed from Walker's killing. This included the shooting and serious injury of a witness who had testified in the murder trial.
