On a Saturday evening in Northeast Washington, D.C., a celebration turned to tragedy. Twenty-one-year-old Demetris Johnson was attending a gender reveal party on March 20, 2021, in the unit block of Madison Street, Northeast. At approximately 7:44 p.m., the joyous occasion was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When officers from the Fourth District arrived at the scene, they discovered two men who had been shot.
