Kenneth Ekwenye, a 45-year-old Black male, was found in the late afternoon of January 5, 2004, in the rear of the 1700 block of Lincoln Road NE, Washington, DC. He had been murdered, his discovery made at approximately 4 p.m. in a residential corridor that fell suddenly quiet as first responders converged on the scene. The man whose name would soon appear on flyers and webpages was lifted from anonymity by the stark language of those notices: he was the victim, and someone out there knew why.
