In the late afternoon of June 11, 2025, Terrill Marshawn Starks, a 47-year-old man, was found fatally shot in the small Walker County town of Sipsey. Deputies and medics were called to a ballfield by Sipsey Missionary Baptist Church on 5th Avenue West, where investigators began treating the case as a homicide. A second man was wounded and taken to a hospital; authorities did not immediately release his condition.
