In the early minutes of July 6, 2025, Evan Mayomi, 23, a Black male from Birmingham, was shot inside a residence on the 200 block of Bent Creek Lane in New Market, Alabama. Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 1:15 a.m. and found Evan Mayomi with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by deputies and HEMSI paramedics, Evan Mayomi was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case was opened as a homicide.
