James Barnett, 69, a Black male, was found on the evening of September 4, 2025, seated in a chair in the front yard of his home in the Salem community of Lee County, Alabama, with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the forehead. Deputies had been dispatched around 7:15 p.m. after a call reporting a body in the 500 block of Lee County Road 126.
