Late on the morning of October 3, 2025, quiet gave way to gunfire at the Greentree Apartments on Boynton Street in Headland. A 911 call reported multiple shots; when first responders reached the scene, they found two adult men wounded. One was rushed away by Headland Fire and Rescue with an abdominal gunshot wound. The other had been struck multiple times and could not be saved, pronounced dead at the complex as officers secured the breezeways and taped off the courtyard.
