Cateria Sharae Birchfield, a 26-year-old female and Black/African American, was shot in the early morning hours of July 12, 2025, in the 200 block of 26th Street South in Bessemer, Alabama. Officers were dispatched around 2:06 a.m. on a report of an assault; Cateria Sharae Birchfield was found with a gunshot wound and rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she was pronounced dead at 3:51 a.m.
