On a tragic day in March, a young woman's life was cut short in what authorities described as a heartbreaking instance of domestic violence. Angelica Noel Jones, a 26-year-old female, was found deceased in Bessemer, Alabama, on March 16, 2014. Her life was taken by her ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide.
The events unfolded when deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of both Angelica Jones and her former boyfriend. Investigators determined that the man had fatally wounded Ms. Jones before taking his own life.
Angelica, a 2008 graduate of Huffman High School, was remembered as a loving mother to her son, Cameron Houston Jones. She was survived by her son, her parents, and a brother. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Grants Chapel A.M.E. Church, followed by her burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office concluded that no outstanding suspects were sought in connection with the deaths, as the incident was contained to the two individuals found at the scene.
