On August 10, 2022, at approximately 12:12 a.m., Bessemer police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of 6th Avenue North. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Kimberly Necole Hartsfield suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
