In the late hours of a Thursday night in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 17-year-old Lorenzo Davis Jr. was tragically cut short. The shooting, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of 29th Avenue North, marked another grim statistic in the city's rising tide of violence.
First responders discovered Davis unresponsive inside an apartment and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:50 p.m.

Edjuan Figguers, 21, and Deleon Hawkins, 22, were arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal drive-by shooting. Investigators believe a prior argument may have been the motive behind the senseless act of violence. Both Figguers and Hawkins are being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
