Alex Reese, age 6, a Black/African American boy, died on August 19, 2025, after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot inside an apartment in Birmingham, Alabama. The Jefferson County Coroner identified the child as Alex Reese, and Birmingham police said the shooting happened late that morning in the 700 block of 24th Avenue Northwest in the Apple Valley area.
