On July 29, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot at 1017 3rd Avenue West. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Ladarrius Antonio Kennedy lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported Kennedy to UAB Hospital, where he remained under medical care.
