On June 19, 2024, 41-year-old Ricky Dyon Latham of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident. The tragedy occurred around 3:10 a.m. as Latham walked along the 10 block of Medical Park Drive East in the Huffman area. The driver involved fled the scene, leaving Latham to succumb to his injuries at the location.
