On the evening of January 8, 2014, Fikree Jordan, a 37-year-old man, was found shot to death in the middle of Farrington Place in southeast Atlanta. Atlanta police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area around 10:30 p.m. and discovered Jordan lying unresponsive in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His green 1995 Chevy pickup truck was missing from the scene.
Initially, homicide detectives were faced with a challenging case with no immediate suspects or clear motive. Investigators at the time stated they had little to believe the victim was involved in any criminal activity during the incident. Jordan, known to his friends as 'Kree,' was a painter by trade and was described by his father as being at the 'highlight of his life.' He was a father to four children.
The investigation eventually led to arrests in the case. In March 2014, Atlanta police arrested 24-year-old Sydney Clark of Riverdale and charged him with the robbery and murder of Fikree Jordan. Homicide investigators were able to establish probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for Clark, who was taken into custody by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Later that year, in October, authorities revealed a connection between Jordan's murder and two other men, Andre Gay and Richard 'Fathead' Wilson, who were suspects in a string of violent crimes. Wilson was tied to the January 8, 2014 murder of Fikree Jordan, with investigators stating the incident occurred during a drug deal. Both Gay and Wilson, who had been on parole for previous offenses, were facing numerous charges, including murder and kidnapping, in connection to other cases. The Fulton County District Attorney announced intentions to seek the death penalty against both men for their alleged crime spree.
