Tavoris Gates, a 32-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on May 16, 2020, in southwest Atlanta, Georgia. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Peyton Place SW, shortly after 7 p.m. Officers from the Atlanta Police Department responded to a call regarding a person shot and discovered Gates suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
