On the evening of April 11, 2026, Antonio “Koolyy” Brown, a 28-year-old aspiring singer, was fatally shot in Atlanta's Capitol View neighborhood. Police responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. on Desoto Avenue and found Brown with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His family described him as a talented high school graduate with a bright future who was not involved in gangs or drugs.
Brown, who also had a side business selling homemade apparel, would have celebrated his 29th birthday just days after his death.
The Atlanta Police Department is investigating the homicide and has publicly released surveillance footage of a person of interest. This individual is described as a slim male, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. He was seen near the crime scene around the time of the shooting, initially wearing a black t-shirt over a long-sleeved white shirt and black jeans with white writing down the back. After the shooting, he was seen in nearby Perkerson Park, no longer wearing the black t-shirt but carrying a black bookbag he didn't have before.
Brown's family members believe they recognize the person in the video, stating he was an acquaintance who had purchased clothing from Brown in the past. They speculate that the motive might have been robbery, as someone may have assumed he had money from selling his merchandise. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made. Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person of interest and have urged anyone who was at a gathering in Perkerson Park that evening to come forward. A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in the case.
