Sonya Billingsley, a 53-year-old African American woman from Gary, Indiana, was last seen on February 7, 2014. Her disappearance remained a mystery for several months until her body was discovered on October 10, 2014, in an abandoned house located at 413 E. 43rd Avenue in Gary. The identification of her remains was confirmed through DNA analysis conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s office. Her death was later linked to a suspected serial killer operating in the region.
