Danielle Brown, a 23-year-old resident of Gary, Indiana, lost her life to gun violence on February 12, 2023. The incident occurred in the 1100 block of Durbin in Gary.

The perpetrator of the crime was identified as Kevin Scott Varner, a 51-year-old man from Hammond, Indiana. Varner was apprehended on the same day of the murder in Fowler, Indiana, after he opened fire at a police officer during a traffic stop.
