Charles Pomeroy Almon III, a 46-year-old white male from Knoxville, Tennessee, was murdered in 1979 by Nicholas Todd Sutton, an 18-year-old white male from Morristown. Almon, a land reclamation contractor, had employed Sutton for planting work. In September 1979, Almon ceased his regular Sunday calls to his parents, prompting concern. His Jaguar was later found abandoned near Newport, Tennessee, with valuables still inside, but there was no sign of Almon.
