On August 12, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Alfred Wanderlingh III, a 65-year-old male, was fatally shot inside an apartment at the Copper Point Apartment Complex. The incident unfolded on a Tuesday morning when officers responded to a call at approximately 9:33 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Wanderlingh with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of
46-year-old Timothy Adam Lee. He was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated domestic assault, and interference with emergency calls. According to police reports, the events leading to Wanderlingh's death began with a violent domestic dispute between Lee and his wife. Lee's wife reported that he accused her of having an affair and proceeded to physically assault her with a golf club and by choking her.
Wanderlingh entered the apartment during the altercation. At that point, Lee allegedly began to physically assault Wanderlingh, hitting him with his fists. The situation escalated when Lee reportedly retrieved a handgun, pointed it at Wanderlingh, and fired a shot. Lee's wife told authorities that he then pointed the gun at her, and when she attempted to call 911, he took her phone and threw it. She managed to escape the apartment and had a neighbor call for help.
Following the shooting, Lee fled the scene in Wanderlingh's truck. He was later apprehended by law enforcement at a Walmart in Maryville after the truck was tracked using license plate recognition technology. It was also revealed that Wanderlingh was a witness in a previous assault case against Lee, stemming from an incident at a vape shop where both Wanderlingh and Lee's wife were employed.
