On March 21, 1973, the bodies of 17-year-old female Ann Eugenia Arceneaux and 19-year-old female Janine Marie Ligotino were discovered in a vacant lot in Gainesville, Florida. Both victims had been stabbed to death. Ann Eugenia Arceneaux, a white female, was originally from New York and had been residing in Gainesville at the time of her death. The brutal nature of the crime and the youth of the victims shocked the local community.
