Weilu Liu, a 29-year-old Chinese woman, tragically lost her life on March 8, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida. She was a talented pianist who had studied at Columbus State University and worked as a private piano tutor. Liu had performed across multiple continents, showcasing her musical abilities. Her death was the result of a murder-suicide involving her husband, Jonathan Rivera.
Reports indicate that Rivera, who had a history of domestic violence, took Liu's life before ending his own.
Liu's family, residing in China, was not present in the United States to support her during the difficult times leading up to her death. In response to the tragedy, they set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and other costs associated with her passing.
