Makiya Alyssa Ja'Nay Ford, a 20-year-old African American woman from Gainesville, FL, tragically lost her life on June 17, 2021. Makiya, a 2020 graduate of Eastside High School and a Warehouse Associate at Nordstrom Warehouse, was fatally shot in the Eastwood Meadows apartment neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7:09 p.m., and it was reported that Makiya was walking in her neighborhood when she was approached by Jermaine Torres Williams, the father of her child.
