On March 21, 1973, the bodies of 19-year-old white female Janine Marie Ligotino and 17-year-old white female Ann Arceneaux were discovered in a vacant lot in Gainesville, Florida. Both young women had been stabbed to death. The brutal nature of the crime shocked the local community and prompted an intensive investigation by law enforcement. At the time, few leads were available, and the case remained unsolved for several years.
