On the evening of March 28, 2025, at approximately 8:42 p.m., officers from the Roanoke Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of 29th Street NW in Roanoke, Virginia. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Jumari Ya’seen McCoy, a Black male resident of Roanoke, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
