In the small community of Bison, Oklahoma, the life of 29-year-old Raymond Becerra, a Black / African American male, was brought to a violent and tragic end. On February 9, 2025, first responders were called to his home to find he had been shot multiple times. Despite their efforts to perform lifesaving measures, Becerra succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The immediate aftermath of the discovery launched a full-scale murder investigation as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the shooting. The investigation soon took a shocking turn, leading authorities to focus on individuals close to Becerra. The inquiry resulted in the arrest of two suspects in connection with the homicide, revealing a grim family connection to the crime.
Investigators took Raymond's mother, 53-year-old Ramona Becerra, into custody in Oklahoma City. She was subsequently charged with the most serious of offenses: first-degree murder. The case grew more complex with the arrest of a second individual, 68-year-old Calvin Whitley. He was apprehended in Bison and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, suggesting a planned effort in the death of Raymond Becerra.
