On April 27, 2025, tragedy struck in Brooklyn, New York, when 18-year-old Javon Johnnie was fatally shot near his home in Coney Island. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Surf Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Johnnie suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical condition, but despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
