Tyreke Borel, a 17-year-old from East Flatbush, Brooklyn, was tragically killed on September 5, 2016, during the J'Ouvert festival, a pre-dawn celebration of Caribbean culture in Brooklyn, New York. Borel, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, had been living in New York for four years.
