In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Camden, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire pierced the night, leading to a tragic end for one man and leaving another fighting for his life. On March 12, 2025, at approximately 10:29 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Morse Street following a ShotSpotter activation.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Lying on the ground outside was 32-year-old Jose Hiraldo-Peralta, a resident of Camden, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Nearby, inside a residence, a second victim, a 28-year-old man also from Camden, was found with a gunshot wound. Both men were immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Jose Hiraldo-Peralta succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:05 p.m. The second victim was reported to be in critical but stable condition. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Police Department have launched an active and ongoing investigation into the double shooting. As of yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their investigation.
