On the evening of May 10, 2018, Nuquan Reddick, a 25-year-old male, was shot multiple times in Camden, New Jersey. The incident occurred at approximately 8:13 p.m. outside the Greattown Grocery and Deli at the intersection of Louis and Morton Streets. Reddick was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remained hospitalized for two months, succumbing to his injuries on July 10, 2018.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify
Shomari Kinard, a 37-year-old Camden man, as the suspect. Surveillance footage from the scene played a crucial role in his identification, showing Kinard waiting for Reddick and then running up to him and firing a weapon several times. Based on this evidence, along with witness statements and cell phone data, an arrest warrant was issued for Kinard.
On July 17, 2018, members of the Camden County Police Department and an FBI Task Force located Kinard on 9th and Cherry Street in Camden. Following a brief foot chase, he was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder. In October 2024, after a five-week trial, a jury found Shomari Kinard guilty of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Subsequently, Kinard was sentenced to 75 years in New Jersey State Prison for the murder of Nuquan Reddick.
