In what should have been the end of a regular shift, 27-year-old Destiny Deja Stewart, a certified nursing assistant, found her life tragically cut short in the parking lot of the Pine Forest Health and Rehabilitation center in Jackson, Mississippi. On the night of March 21, 2025, a heated argument with her 29-year-old partner, Samuel Coleman, escalated into a shocking act of violence that left two families devastated.
Witnesses reported hearing raised voices as Stewart and Coleman argued. The confrontation took a fatal turn when Coleman produced a firearm and shot Stewart in the head before turning the gun on himself. The Jackson Police Department, responding to calls of gunfire around midnight, arrived to find a grim scene. Both Stewart and Coleman were critically wounded but still alive.
