In the autumn of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm on Curtis Street in Jackson, Mississippi, and tragically ended the life of a young woman. Brianna McGowan, a 27-year-old Black female, was sitting in a parked car with a friend on November 3rd when an unknown attacker unleashed a spray of bullets into their vehicle. The sudden violence of the drive-by shooting left McGowan with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
