Lucie Ann Tanner, a 49-year-old female, was driving north on Watkins Drive in Jackson, Mississippi, on the evening of November 4, 2022, with two juvenile passengers in her vehicle. Suddenly, a white sedan carrying two men pulled in front of her car and opened fire. The gunshots struck Tanner, critically injuring her. The two young passengers in her vehicle were fortunately not harmed during the attack.
Emergency services rushed Lucie to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. For three days, she fought for her life, but the injuries she sustained in the shooting were too severe. On November 7, 2022, Lucie Ann Tanner succumbed to her wounds. The Hinds County Coroner later confirmed that her death was a result of the gunshot wounds she received in the attack.
The Jackson Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, no arrests have been made in the case.
