In the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the city of Springfield was the scene of a violent incident that resulted in the death of 35-year-old Justin Santiago. A male resident of Springfield, Santiago was found inside a home in the 0-100 block of Hebron Street suffering from gunshot wounds. The initial call to Springfield Police Officers came in at approximately 5:40 a.m., reporting two victims at the location.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered both Santiago and
another man, later identified as 55-year-old Noe Martin of Springfield, with serious injuries. Emergency services transported both men to Baystate Medical Center, where they ultimately succumbed to their injuries. The case is being actively investigated by the Springfield Police Homicide Unit, under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, in collaboration with the Hampden District Attorney's Murder Unit.
Authorities have stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident. While the investigation remains active and ongoing, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the double homicide. The Hampden District Attorney, Anthony D. Gulluni, has extended his sympathies to the families of both victims.
