In the early afternoon of a Friday in Muncie, Indiana, a young man's life was cut short by gunfire. DeJay DayQuan Kidd, a 20-year-old male from Minnesota, was shot on February 7, 2025, at a residence on South Elm Street. The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. Following the shooting, Kidd was rushed to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.
The investigation into the homicide led police to a teenage suspect.
A 17-year-old from Muncie, Julius Sanchez, was identified as the alleged shooter. Sanchez is accused of shooting Kidd while he was on the front porch of the home.
Following the investigation, Julius Sanchez was formally charged with murder in connection with DeJay Kidd's death. The case against the teenager then moved to the judicial system for proceedings.
