Hoshaw, an 82-year-old Caucasian woman, was found deceased in her home on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The authorities were called to the residence to perform a welfare check after concerned family members were unable to make contact with her.

Upon entering the home she had shared with her husband for many years, law enforcement discovered Marie Hoshaw in her living room, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her head. In a nearby chair was her 85-year-old husband, David Hoshaw, who was also deceased from what was determined to be a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Marie's death was a homicide and David's a suicide, pointing to a murder-suicide event.
The investigation into the deaths of Marie and David Hoshaw remains ongoing, though authorities have not indicated any other suspects are being sought. The last known contact with the couple was in late January of that year. An avid bird watcher who also enjoyed reading, fishing, and camping, Marie was a retiree from Eli Lily where she had worked in Maintenance Purchasing.
