In the summer of 2022, the life of 35-year-old Heather Lynn Harmon was tragically cut short in a violent sequence of events that unfolded in Auburn, Indiana. A graduate of Garrett High School, Harmon was the manager of the optical department at Vision Source in Auburn and was a mother to two children.
On the morning of July 25, 2022, events began to spiral out of control when police received a report of shots fired. Responding officers arrived to see a passenger vehicle leaving the area.
When they attempted to stop the car, the driver fled, initiating a police pursuit. The chase concluded with a grim discovery inside the vehicle.
Investigations revealed that Harmon had been forced into her car at gunpoint by a former partner, 37-year-old Edward James Conboy. It is believed that Harmon was driving under coercion from Conboy. At the end of the pursuit, law enforcement officials reported that Conboy shot and killed Harmon before turning the gun on himself. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary findings of the investigation pointed to a domestic-related murder-suicide. No other individuals were harmed during the incident.
