On the evening of December 31, 2019, a violent incident unfolded in Indianapolis, Indiana, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Eddie Brown. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 8:20 p.m. in the area near the intersection of West St. Clair Street and North Belmont Avenue on the city’s near west side. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that three individuals had been struck by bullets during the event.
Brown, a Black female, was found at the scene suffering from fatal injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead.
The shooting, which occurred just hours before the New Year, left two other victims injured. Police found two men who had also sustained gunshot wounds; one was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, while the other was listed in stable condition. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department secured the area, located a few blocks west of the White River and south of West 10th Street, to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses.
