In the autumn of 2014, the life of a 25-year-old transgender woman of color, Tajshon M. Sher, known to her friends as 'Ashley,' was tragically cut short in Indianapolis, Indiana. Early one Monday morning in October, a police officer on routine patrol discovered her body at the Tudor Park condominiums on the east side of the city. She had been fatally shot in the head.
