In the early hours of an August morning in 2011, the life of 30-year-old Damian Tiffin, an African-American man, was cut short in Omaha, Nebraska. On August 2nd, police responded to a call of a shooting near 19th and Sprague Streets. There they found Damian Tiffin with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was rushed to Creighton University Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Another man, Markice McDonald, was also found at the scene with injuries and was treated at a hospital.
The investigation into Tiffin's death has unfortunately grown cold over the years, leaving his family and community without answers. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. The case remains an unsolved homicide in the records of the Omaha Police Department. Law enforcement officials have periodically asked for the public's help for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.
Tragically, this was not the first time Damian Tiffin had been a victim of gun violence. A little over a year prior, in May of 2010, he was one of three men shot in a drive-by shooting while sitting on a porch. In that incident, one of his friends was killed, while Tiffin and another man survived their injuries. The 2010 shooting also remains unsolved. The circumstances surrounding both events have left a lingering sense of loss and a quest for justice that continues for his family, which includes his mother, father, siblings, and two daughters.
