In the early morning hours of October 24, 2009, the life of 18-year-old Marcus Watts, an African-American male, was tragically cut short in Omaha, Nebraska. Just after 3 a.m., police responded to a call and found Watts next to a car near the intersection of North 28th Street and Kansas Avenue. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sudden and violent death of the young man left his family and community searching for answers.
At the time of his passing, Marcus was a father to three young children: two daughters, Jon'nesha and Marsiah, and a son, Markius. He was survived by his mother, Shanetra, his father, Joe Hillard, and three sisters.
