Juwan Walker Jr. was a 14-year-old Black male known for his fighting spirit and kind heart. Born prematurely and weighing less than three pounds, he was affectionately called "Supa" by his family. He attended church, loved being outdoors, and even started his own successful leaf-raking business. His family remembered him as a handsome and happy boy who left a lasting impression of love on everyone he met.
After his death, Juwan became an organ donor, giving a second chance at life to at least four other people.
On the evening of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, Juwan was sitting in a parked car on Willis Road in his hometown of Dover, Delaware. At approximately 6:50 p.m., two males approached the vehicle. One of them produced a firearm and shot multiple times into the car, striking Juwan in the upper body. The two assailants then fled the scene on foot.
A private vehicle rushed Juwan to Bayhealth Kent Campus. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was then flown to Nemours Children's Hospital for more advanced care. For three days, he fought for his life, but he succumbed to his wounds on December 27, 2024.
The Dover Police Department began an immediate investigation, and arrests followed quickly. On December 28, 2024, officers arrested two juvenile suspects from Dover, a 13-year-old male and a 15-year-old male. Both were charged with second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and related offenses. They were each committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $181,000 cash bail. In accordance with state law, their names were not released by authorities.
The investigation continued, and more than a year and a half later, police identified a third suspect. On August 10, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued, and on August 13, a 16-year-old male was taken into custody at his residence in Pennsylvania by a U.S. Marshals task force. He faced charges of second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, and several weapons offenses and was awaiting extradition to Delaware.
As of August 2026, criminal proceedings against all three juvenile defendants were pending trial.
