Jonair Pollard, a 29-year-old Black male from Dover, was shot in the Capital Green neighborhood on the afternoon of May 25, 2024. Police were called at 4:22 p.m. to New Castle Avenue and East Water Street, where officers found him with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus and pronounced dead shortly thereafter, as detectives began working the case and canvassing for witnesses and motive.
